Description
The Ocellated Turkey (Meleagris ocellata) is a strikingly colorful, medium-sized bird native to the Yucatán Peninsula, Belize, and Guatemala. Unlike North American wild turkeys, they feature iridescent green-blue feathers, peacock-like "eyes" on their tail feathers, and, in males, bright blue heads dotted with orange, warty nodules. They live in tropical forests and are considered near-threatened due to habitat loss.
